This forest harbors various primates, plants, birds, mammals and reptiles right along with a few amphibians. Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be picked by our safari guide and transferred to Nyungwe Forest National Park driving via the beautiful lush countryside landscapes of southern Rwanda plus the all lovely town of Butare before making our final destination to Nyungwe Forest National Park where we should reach in the late afternoon or evening depending on your time of arrival. If we happen to reach in the late afternoon, we shall have an evening community walk where we shall interact with the Rwandeese that are situated South of their country and also chance their works and development. If you speak french, communication will be much easy for you. From here we shall head back to our place of stay for an overnight as we wait for the main activities the following day.
Day 2: Rwanda Chimpanzee trekking and Canopy walk
This is the day we break our feet into the forest of Nyungwe hence we ought to have a heavy breakfast meal so as to be energetic through out the entire trek. After our breakfast, we shall head to the Park headquarters for a short briefing session at exactly 8:00am before we make our way into the forest to search for Rwanda’s Chimpanzees. Like said previously, Nyungwe Forest is looked at as the biggest montane forest in the entire region sheltering over 290 bird species, 68 mammals, approximately 13 primate species including the Chimpanzees right along with variety of butterflies, strong huge trees and orchids. Rwanda’s Chimpanzee tracking experience usually lasts up to 5 hours with a full hour of close encounter and contact with these primates depending on the movements of Chimpanzees. You will get a chance to feed these Chimps, watch them play with each other, jump from tree to tree plus more exciting moments that may arise.
Right after this activity, you shall then return to your starting point where you will meet your guide who will drive you to your place of stay for a lunch break and relaxation moment as you prepare for a walk on East Africa’s only canopy in the afternoon. After relaxing, we shall head to Uwinka Visitor Center from where we shall get started with the magical and challenging Nyungwe canopy walk experience. This adventurous walk that may last up to two hours on top of the forest rewards perfect sights of Nyungwe forest along with it’s species. It an experience of a lifetime hence, endeavor to carry fully charged cameras for lifetime photographs on top of Nyungwe Forest. After this magical experience, we shall then return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight as we prepare for more activities the following day.
Day 3: Transfer to Kigali for departure
Shortly after having breakfast, we shall embark on our return journey to Kigali City with a stop over in Butare, South of Rwanda this time round to explore the largest of all the Museums in Rwanda. Butare Museum has over 90,000 artifacts that depict a detailed history and traditions of Rwanda hence, a perfect opportunity for you to bond with the past Rwanda. Right after the museum experience, you get onto another exciting cultural trail at the Nyanza palace, a Royal home that sheltered the two Kings of Rwanda (Musinga and Rudahigwa). From here we shall get onto our final journey to Kigali City so that we have enough time to relax as you prepare for your night flight.
